My research centers on the question of why there is order in society. That is, what is keeping us from devolving into a state of chaos and anarchy? And why are we not in such a state now? I address this question by looking at how trust, perceptions of fairness, and interpersonal motives drive the manner we interact with each other. My ultimate goal is to gain understanding of how culture and social structure emerge from disorder, and how they evolve over time.
